2007 Start and direction of the multinational research network: MyJoint / tissue engineering in oral and maxillofacial surgery, that was subsidized by the European Union with more than 2 million Euro. (The researchers in Kiel managed to grow a mandible in the muscles of a patient's back and then implant it. The project MyJoint is a network of high-ranking universities and it pursues an ambitious goal and a wide-ranging medical vision: whole functioning joints should grow in the bodies of the affected patients, so that they can be individually adapted and sustainable replace bone and cartilage tissue lifelong.).
