Gynaecomastia is a disease which can also occur in men: the enlargement of the breast gland body. This is the result of a hormone disorder that must be treated by an androlologist (doctor for male illnesses) or gynecologist (doctor for women's diseases). Significantly more frequent is the very stressful, but harmless pseudogynacomastia or lipomastia. It is caused by a strong increase in weight or the natural shift in hormonal balance at an advanced age. Mostly, these fat pads resist any diet or exercise. A permanent remedy is provided by a liposuction or an open reduction of adipose tissue. Such an intervention can be performed under local anesthesia.
